Tunisia: exports of phosphates and derivatives in free fall

Exports of phosphates and derivatives fell by 36.9% over the first 10 months in 2014, according to the latest figures on the results of the Tunisian foreign trade for that period published by National Statistics Institute (INS).

The fall in exports of Tunisian phosphates is growing so quickly and from one period to another, since the decline in 10 months of 2014 compared with 10 months in 2013, was only 5.1%.

Another significant decline of export was that of the textile & clothing sector which went down 7.4% after rising 3.9% in the first 10 months in 2014 compared to the same period of 2013.

More worrying is that decrease, although slight, of imports by the same sector by 4.2% in the first ten months of this year. Less import means less work and less future export.
