25% of electricity consumption in the food industries is used for the sector’s refrigeration facilities, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry.
This consumption is approximately 150 GWh / year and varies depending on the building design, selection of the components of the refrigeration facilities, the thickness of the insulation, speed of stock rotation, temperature of incoming products and the outside temperature.
The energy bill of this branch is estimated to 30 million Tunisian dinars (MTD)/year.
