Tunisia: foreign exchange reserves at highest level since December 2010

Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), in terms of days of imports, have reached 144 days for the first time since December 2010.

According to daily data from the BCT, net foreign exchange reserves amounted on August 25, 2020 to the equivalent of 21.77 billion dinars recording a growth of 4.28 billion dinars compared to the same date last year, the equivalent of 46 days of imports.

Foreign currency assets have continued to grow despite the fall in tourism revenues which went down by 2 billion dinars between August 25, 2019 and August 25, 2020.

On the other hand, labor income (consisting mainly of remittances from Tunisians living abroad) continued to rise, reaching the sum of 3.4 billion dinars on August 20, 2010, up 215 million dinars compared to the same date last year.
