Tunisia: French investment down 9% in 2011

French foreign direct investment in Tunisia excluding energy fell 9% in 2011 from 231.3 million dinars (MTD) in 2010 to 210.9 million dinars, in spite of the 35 MTD investment portfolio made by Orange group in 2011. Nevertheless, and despite the unstable situation in the country, there were:

* The entry into production of 57 new French joint ventures

* Completion of 72 ongoing projects and extensions

To December, 31, 2011, there were 1,276 companies with French participation, generating 119,000 jobs. It should be noted that 57 French-invested enterprises have ceased operations in 2011.
