Tunisia: IMF lends receptive ear to new leadership of UTICA

Mrs. Wided Bouchammaoui, President of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) met, Monday afternoon at the seat of UTICA, with an IMF delegation led by Mr. Amine Mati, Head of Mission for Tunisia.

The meeting focused on the situation of the Tunisian economy after two years of the Revolution, and its growth prospects over the next period, and the main priorities to be adopted soon in order to accelerate the recovery of the Tunisian economy.

Mrs. Bouchammaoui, who was accompanied by Hichem Elloumi, Executive Board member of UTICA, presented to the IMF delegation the major axes and objectives of the UTICA vision for Tunisia in 2020.

She said, in this context, that efforts made to boost the Tunisian economy should be intensified in the next step, especially for the new investment code, companies in difficulty, the reform of the banking system and project financing mechanisms, tax reform, the system of management and governance of Vocational Training, and the launch in the shortest possible time of major public projects of regional development in order to encourage investment in the inner regions of countries.
