The seaside resort of Yasmine Hammamet recorded a 17% increase in the number of arrivals from January 1 to June 10, 2014 and 10% growth in overnight stays compared to the same period of 2013.
In a statement to TAP news agency, the Regional Commissioner of Tourism in Yasmine Hammamet, Basma Darghouth, stated that “the number of visitors amounted to 271,000 tourists, against 231,000 for the same period of 2013, while the number of overnight stays exceeded 852,000 (775,000 in 2013).
Basma Darghouth added “these figures are below expectations, but they augur a promising season, especially as indicators and reservations for the months of July and August 2014, point to an occupancy rate of approximately 85% in most hotel units of the resort.”
