Tunisia has currently the highest inflation rate in seven years, i.e. 6%, according to the latest figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
This record rate is attributed primarily to an inflation rate of 8.6% in the food-drinks group, said INS Director Jaleleddine Berrajab.
The inflation rate of energy “totaled 4.6% in January 2013, the same rate recorded in January 2012,” he said.
The consumer price index rose by 0.8% compared to December 2012.
