Tunisia-Internet: Topnet leader, Globalnet second and Orange not far away

The number of ADSL subscribers remained almost stable in August 2016, with 489.195 subscribers, a small increase of 6,120 thousand new subscriptions compared to the figures of June of the same year.

All private ISPs posted an increase in their ADSL subscriptions in August. These increases were 4.7 thousand at Topnet, 1.0 thousand subscriptions at Globalnet, 0.2 thousand at Ooredoo Internet and 0.1 thousand at Hexabyte and at Orange Internet.

As a result, Topnet boosted its market share by an additional 0.3 percentage points, and still accumulates half of the market share by the end of the eighth month of 2016. It is followed by Globalnet with a share of 17.8%, and in third place by Orange Internet with a 16.8% share.

It should be noted that the share of subscriptions with internet connection of 4Mb / s, which represents 63.6% of subscriptions, has increased by 0.6 point, unlike subscriptions with a 2Mb / s rate whose share decreased by 0, 4 point.

It should be noted that 86% of ADSL subscriptions have at least a connection ≥ 4Mb / s.

ADSL’s data traffic has increased at Globalnet, Topnet and Ooredoo Internet in August 2016, unlike the other two private ISPs whose traffic declined slightly.

Topnet has the highest traffic as it has half of the subscribers. Nevertheless, in terms of average consumption per subscription, Ooredoo Internet has the highest average consumption per subscription during this month with 82.4 GB.

Speaking at a hearing session held Tuesday by the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Food Security, Trade and Services, the minister added that despite the decline “the budget will be adequate to achieve its program to boost tourism and handicrafts “.
