Tourism Minister Selma Elloumi Rekik said the “tourism sector indicators have registered an increase until the end of October 2016 compared to the same period of 2015, with the number of tourists reaching 4 million 10 thousand and 760 tourists, up 3.3% compared to the same period last year.
Speaking at a parliamentary hearing session, the minister added that this increase has particularly concerned the Algerian market (one million 375 thousand and 670 visitors) which grew 15.6% and the Russian market (617,093 tourists) which posted a rise of 1100%.
The number of overnight stays increased to 16.5 million in Tunisian hotels, representing a growth of 10% over the first ten months of 2015. Tourism revenues reached about 2 million dinars during the same period.
