Tunisia: investments reported in regions post 20% decline

Investments reported in regional development zones reached 687.2 MTD during the first 5 months of the year against 860.2 MD in the same period of 2011, down 20.1%.

Similarly, the share of these areas in all governorates in terms of investment fell from 58.6% to 45.9% during the first five months 2012.

The decrease is mainly attributable to the governorate of Sfax in which investments reported in regional development zones reached 25.6 MTD against 134.3 MTD during the first five months 2012.

This also the case for the governorate of Jendouba, in which reported investment reached 51.3 MTD against 98.9 MD during the first five months 2012.

Similarly, investments reported in the governorate of Kasserine fell from 97 MTD to 51.5MTD.

Moreover, investments reported in the governorate of Sidi Bouzid decreased from 63.6 MTD to 41.9 MTD in 2012 and investments reported in the Siliana fell from 53.1 MTD to 23.7 MTD in the first five months of 2011.
