Tunisia: Italian plant recently hit by fire to restart next week (Minister)

The Italian textile plant “New Style Italian,” recently hit by fire, will restart next week, announced Minister of Industry Mohamed Lamine Chakhari.

After a working session held with owner of the plant Roberto Kazini Thursday in Beni Khalled, Governorate of Nabeul, , the minister said decisions have been taken jointly with executives of the Italian plant, regional authorities and stakeholders to ensure that the plant restarts in the next days.

“Measures taken include, in particular, temporary assignment of the staff to other occupations, pending repairing the damage caused by the fire,” said a press statement of the Ministry of Industry released Thursday.

Mr. Roberto Kazini said the plant’s design, ironing and finishing workshops will be able to restart in the next few days and ensure the continuity of employment for 190 persons out of the 250 employed by the plant now.

“Pending the results of the expert’s appraisal conducted by concerned services, it turns out that the fire that had hit this unit last September 25 mainly affected the knitting workshop,” specifies the statement.
