Tunisia-Korea-African countries tripartite partnership

On the occasion of the Ministerial Conference on Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOFEC), held in the Korean city of Busan from September 12 to 15, 2023, President of the Tunisian-Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mehdi Mahjoub, affirmed on Thursday the Chamber’s willingness to support Tunisian businessmen interested in investment projects in the Republic of Korea. Tunisia represents a gateway to Africa for Korea, he noted.

Speaking on Radio Express FM, he emphasised the great opportunities for tripartite partnerships between Korea, Tunisia and African countries. He mentioned a competition currently being organized under the aegis of the chamber with the participation of Tunisian, Korean and African start-ups, with a view to rewarding the best startups with substantial prizes.

The 26 startups, comprising 12 Koreans, 7 Tunisians and 7 Africans, operate in various fields such as health, water, the environment, technological innovations and agriculture.

Mehdi Mahjoub praised Korea’s lead in technology and innovation, noting that Tunisia could benefit greatly from its cooperation with Korea in these fields.

He added that the Koreans who have visited Tunisia have been impressed by its development.

The Republic of Korea or South Korea is Tunisia’s third largest supplier and 7th largest customer in Asia.

A Tunisia-Korea-Africa Business Forum was held in Tunisia last May.
