“The Leoni Group in Tunisia will provide 1700 new direct jobs before September 2012, as part of the extension of the cables production unit in favor of one of its customers,” said Wednesday Director General of the Group Mohamed Arbi Rouiss.
At a press briefing at the headquarters of the Leoni Group Tunisia, specializing in the manufacture of automotive cables, in the industrial area of Messaadine in Sousse, the Director General stressed that “this recruitment will be unprecedented.”
He also said that the lower level of production and the various challenges facing the production unit of Ezzahra pushed the senior management to propose the transfer of its officers and agents to the production units of Mateur and Messaadine.
The Director General explained that the only customer of the production unit of Ezzahra became unable to maintain the volume of its demands, because of the difficult economic conditions facing the automotive industry worldwide.
He added that the Leoni Group, anxious to preserve and strengthen job positions proposed to its officers assigned to the production unit of Ezzahra their transfer to production units and Mateur Messaadine.
“This is the only possible solution to preserve employment positions and avoid the transfer of the Group’s activities to the Eastern European countries,” the official said.
