Tunisia loses 0.7% of GDP because of continued strikes in phosphate sector

Tunisia has lost about 0.7% of GDP in 2014 due to the continued strikes and blocking of production in the phosphate and mining industry. This was said on Wednesday by Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining Kamel Bennaceur.

The minister said Tunisia can record a growth rate of 3.8% in 2015 if there will be no more strikes, saying that blocking of production in the phosphate sector between 2011 and 2013 caused a loss of 3.5% of GDP (an average of 1.2% of GDP per year), or about 3,000 million dinars.
