Tunisia: More than 10 billion dinars in tax revenue in Q1 2024

The Tunisian State’s tax revenues rose by 6.5% in the first quarter of the current year, compared to the same quarter of the previous year, to TND 10.4 billion.

This increase is the result of a 14% rise in direct taxes and a 1.5% rise in indirect taxes, according to the provisional results of the execution of the state budget at the end of March.

Direct taxes amounted to TND 4.4 billion. Specifically, personal income tax increased by 8.3% to 3 billion dinars, including TND 2.2 billion from payroll taxes (+6.4%).

Revenues from corporate income tax amounted to TND 1.4 billion (+29.1%), divided into TND 992 million from non-oil companies (+11.6%) and TND 401.4 million from oil companies (+110%).

Indirect taxes amounted to TND 6 billion. Their 1.5% growth was mainly due to a 2.4% increase in customs duties to TND 449 million and a 1.3% increase in VAT to TND 2.5 billion. On the other hand, excise duties decreased by 8.2% to TND 875 million.

It should be noted that the 2024 Finance Law foresees tax revenues of around TND 44 billion, an increase of 11.6% compared to 2023 and 62% compared to 2020.
