Tunisia: More than 2 billion dinars in half-year turnover for insurance companies

Direct insurance companies in Tunisia achieved a turnover (net premiums) of 2,030 million dinars in the first half of the current year, compared to 1,848 million dinars at the end of June 2023, representing a growth of 9.8%.

According to data published by the General Insurance Committee (CGA), non-life insurance accounted for 75.1% of insurance companies’ revenues in the first half of the year, or 533 million dinars (+15.7%), while life and capitalization insurance accounted for 24.9%, or 1,497 million dinars (+7.9%).

In addition, motor insurance generated a total turnover of 818.6 million dinars at the end of last June, compared to 758.6 million dinars a year earlier, up 7.9%.

Group health insurance recorded a 9.8% increase in turnover to 310.3 million dinars, compared to 282.7 million dinars a year earlier, while fire insurance turnover increased by 3.1% to 165.1 million dinars.

In addition, the compensation paid by direct insurance companies reached 900.7 million dinars, compared to 867.9 million dinars in the first half of 2023, thus recording an increase of about 3.8%, including 716.9 million dinars from non-life insurance.
