Tunisia: NCA Finance Committee meets WB Delegation

The Finance Committee of the National Constituent Assembly (NCA) met on Monday afternoon with a delegation of the World Bank (WB) made up of 12 executive directors.

The Executive Directors said equidistance is the watchword of the international financial institution and asserted that the WB deals with the State not with parties or individuals, head of the Finance Committee Ferjani Doghmane told TAP.

The WB insisted that it does not dictate terms to Tunisia, contrary to what is thought, and meets Tunisia’s requests, Doghmane pointed out.

The Finance Committee stressed Tunisia’s commitment to meet repayment deadlines, the head of the Finance Committee highlighted. “We do not call for debts write-off; we could just ask for their conversion into development projects as Germany did.”

As to the loans granted to Tunisia, Doghmane explained that “the role of the Committee is to control spending.
