Tunisia: only five Chinese companies operate in Tunisia

Only five Chinese companies are operating in Tunisia, a figure that remains relatively low compared, for example, to the 1,200 French companies operating in Tunisia.

Employing approximately 165 Chinese employees, these five companies are active in the fields of ICT, household appliances and energy.

On the Tunisian side, only one company operates in Qinhuandao (East China). It specializes in the field of chemical fertilizers.

Trade between China and Tunisia reached about $ 1.330 billion in 2011, up 19% compared to 2010.

Exports from China to Tunisia amounted, in turn, to $ 1.110 billion, up 12% compared to 2010. Chinese imports from Tunisia reached only $ 220 million, thus registering a growth of 76%.

The main Chinese products exported to Tunisia have involved the sectors of ICT, transport, electricity industries (home appliances), transportation, consumer products and manufactured goods.
