Italy has disbursed €25 million to support the decentralization process in Tunisia and €6 million to train executives in municipalities, Italian ambassador in Tunis Lorenzo Fanara said Thursday.
At his meeting with Minister of Local Affairs, Lotfi Zitoun, the Italian diplomat reaffirmed his country’s commitment to accelerate the mobilization of the necessary funds dedicated to municipalities in Tunisia.
Quoted in a press release, the Minister of Local Affairs stressed that decentralization is an “irreversible strategic” choice to complete the process of democratic transition, commending the support provided by Italy in this direction.
