Tunisia: passenger traffic in first 2 months of 2024 up 11.7%

Passenger traffic through Tunisian airports increased by 11.7% in the first two months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. It reached 1,196,444 “passenger movements”, according to statistics published by the Office of Civil Aviation and Airports (OACA) on Tuesday.

This upward trend affected air traffic at most Tunisian airports, with an increase of 11% at Tunis Carthage International Airport (1,008,386 movements), 10.5% at Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (152,778 movements), 29.6% at Sfax-Thyna International Airport (27,592 movements), 218.1% at Tozeur-Nefta International Airport (7,145 movements) and 18% at Tabarka-Ain Draham International Airport (543 movements).

OACA statistics also show a 9% increase in commercial traffic (aircraft movements) in the first two months of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, with 10,440 aircraft movements recorded.

In terms of aircraft movements, the increase was 8.5% at Tunis Carthage International Airport (8,450 movements), 10.3% at Djerba-Zarzis International Airport (1,275 movements) and 14.9% at Sfax-Thyna International Airport (587 movements).

Aircraft movements also increased by 100% at Tozeur Nefta International Airport (100 movements). However, they decreased by 33.3% at Tabarka-Ain Draham International Airport (28 movements).

Overflights (aircraft passing through Tunisian airspace) reached 9,270 movements in the first two months of 2024, an increase of 29.6% compared with the same period in 2023.
