Tunisia: price index rises to 5.7% in September

The household consumer price index rose to 5.7% in September, after reaching 5.6% during the months of July and August, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

This increase is due to the 7.5% rise in the prices of the food and beverage group, the 13.6% growth in the price of meat and the increase by 12.5% and 11.5 % ofeggs and vegetables, respectively.

The price index of the education group also posted an increase of 7.8% because of the start of school year and growing spending related to private education and school supplies.

INS indicates that the inflation rate for the month of September, including energy, was 5.8%, and reached 4.7%, exclusive of energy and food.
