The household consumer price index rose to 5.7% in September, after reaching 5.6% during the months of July and August, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

This increase is due to the 7.5% rise in the prices of the food and beverage group, the 13.6% growth in the price of meat and the increase by 12.5% and 11.5 % ofeggs and vegetables, respectively.

The price index of the education group also posted an increase of 7.8% because of the start of school year and growing spending related to private education and school supplies.
