A promotion day was held Wednesday in Tunis to shed light on the Fig of Djebba, a registered designation of origin of the flagship product.
This fruit is grown in Djebba, a village in the governorate of Beja, northwest Tunisia. The local variety “Bouhouli” is most known for its antioxidant potential. It is also a low-sugar fruit that is exported to Gulf countries and Europe, notably France, Canada and Libya.
Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Minister in the Caretaker Government Saad Seddik said there is need to increase irrigation water resources to step up production.
