“Qatar is the first investor in the Tunisian tourism sector with more than 800 million dinars,” a source of the Tunisian National Tourist Office (ONTT) told AfricanManager.
Indeed, Qatar has invested 215 million dinars (MD) in Tunisia only in the project of Diar Qatari in Tozeur or La Cigale Tabarka.
This figure, however, should increase to more than 800 MD after the start of work of the megaproject “La Cigale Gammarth”, whose investment is estimated at 600 MD.
The Second place is now occupied by Saudi Arabia with investments in the order of 214 MD.
In addition, the overall volume of Arab investment in the Tunisian tourism sector amounts to 1,688 million dinars, or 675 million dollars (67% of the overall foreign investment).
