Tunisia: Reported investment in industrial sector down 17.3% to end-March 2024

Reported investments in the industrial sector fell by 17.3% to TND 654.7 million during the first quarter of 2024, according to the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation (APII).

By the end of March 2024, the number of reported projects had increased by 6.9% to 966 projects. These projects will create 1,076 jobs.

The APII reported an increase in reported investments in the agri-food (+89.6%), chemicals (+228.6%) and leather and footwear (+232%) sectors.

It also pointed out that 34% of the investments reported in the first quarter of 2024 (i.e. a total of TND 220.6 million) were for start-up projects.

The number of projects reported in the context of new creations increased by 16.7% (823 projects compared to 705 at the end of March 2023).

Investments reported as part of projects other than creation (expansion, renewal of equipment, etc.) reached TND 434.1 million (+78.7%).
