Tunisia:  Moulin d’Or bought by Mexico’s Grupo Bimbo?

Mexican group Grupo Bimbo SAB de CV is said to have acquired Moulin d’Or, which has been sold for the first time to a German but is still producing in Tunisia.

This was reported by the specialist news website Supermarket Perimeter, which quoted the CEO and Chairman of Grupo Bimbo, without giving details of the percentage of capital acquired or the amount of the transaction.

The announcement was made during a conference call with analysts on April 22 to discuss the company’s first quarter results.

According to the same source, ‘In Tunisia, Bimbo has acquired Moulin d’Or, the leading manufacturer of sweet pastries. The company’s products include individual cakes, family cakes, pastries, biscuits, bread, tarts and tartlets’. Servitje is quoted as saying that this acquisition is Bimbo’s first in Tunisia.

Mexico’s largest agri-food company reportedly made four ‘targeted’ acquisitions in the first quarter, extending its global presence to 35 countries, Daniel Servitje was quoted as saying.

Grupo Bimbo S.A.B. de C.V. is Mexico’s largest bread producer and distributor, founded in 1945 and listed on the Indice de Precios y Cotizaciones, the main index of the Mexican stock exchange.
