Tunisia: reported investments in industry drop significantly

Reported investment in the industrial sector reached the amount of 1,248.7 MD in the first four months of 2018, against 1,663 MD during the same period of 2017, posting a decrease of 24.9%, said the latest figures from the Agency for the Promotion of Industry and Innovation.

The number of reported projects reached 1,576 in the first four months of 2018 compared with 1,509 in the first four months of 2017, up 4.4%.

These projects will create 21,867 jobs, compared to 26,108 jobs in the first four months of 2017, i.e. a decrease of 16.2%.

The only month of April 2018 saw the reporting of 342 projects corresponding to an investment amount of 322.3 MD and job creations in the number of 5,164.

Compared to the previous month during which 411 projects, 270.8 MD investment and 4,902 jobs were reported, the month of April 2018 saw a decrease of 16.8% in projects to be implemented, 19% increase in reported investments and rise of 5.3% in the jobs to be created.
