Tunisia: Seven listed companies publish their 2023 ESG reports

Seven listed companies, namely Assurances Maghrebia, Assurances Maghrebia Vie, Délice Holding, Poulina Groupe Holding, SFBT, STAR and Tunisie Leasing et Factoring, have just published their ESG reports (reports on environmental, social and governance performance) for 2023, the Tunis Stock Exchange announced on Monday.

In December 2021, the Tunis Stock Exchange and the Financial Market Council (CMF) published a guide to environmental, social and governance (ESG) reporting for companies, particularly listed companies.

This guide proposes a matrix of indicators for a progressive approach to extra-financial reporting, covering environmental, social and governance issues, and aims to standardize extra-financial communication.

Through this guide, the two organizations aim to encourage the adoption of extra-financial disclosure, particularly among the flagships of the Tunisian economy, in order to unite the Tunisian ecosystem towards a new sustainable economy that takes into account the needs of future generations and the real impact of the threats that are sweeping the world.

The stock exchange has announced that this is an initial list of companies that have signed up to this approach. The list will be updated as new publications are brought to the attention of the Bourse.

In the same vein, the Tunis Stock Exchange reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening this approach through the implementation of a support program for a first cohort of listed companies in collaboration with the IFC.

This also include the launch of studies on the creation of an ESG index, the strengthening of skills, the launch of financing products for green projects supported by the CMF, which has published a guide on green, socially responsible and sustainable bonds, and the improvement of the position of women in the governance and management bodies of listed companies.
