According to the latest 2023 budget execution figures from the Tunisian Ministry of Finance, budget resources increased by 6.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to exceed TND 20.579 billion, mainly in tax revenue.
The latter also increased by 8.3% year-on-year to exceed TND 18.912 billion, excluding the TND 1.677 billion of non-tax revenues.
On the other hand, the State spent a total of TND 20.521 billion, mainly on wages and salaries (TND 10.844 billion, up 2.8%) and TND 4.678 billion don social spending, resulting in a year-on-year surplus of TND 58.8 million, compared to a TND deficit of 687.2 million in the first half of 2022. This is assuming that the Ministry of Finance has declared everything!
