Tunisia: telecom market revenues up 10.7 percent in Q2

Tunisia’s telecom market revenues rose by 10.7 percent year-on-year to TND 742.4 million in the second quarter, according to regulatory authority INT.

The growth rate improved from 8.2 percent in the previous quarter, and was supported by the ongoing strong performance in the fixed data (+30.1%) and mobile data (16.1%) segments, based on revenues of TND 117.2 million and TND 154.5 million, respectively.

The uplift in fixed data revenues reflected the growing trend in LTE TDD subscriptions and traffic.

The number of active mobile connections rose by 2.6 percent to 14.57 million, representing an annual increase of over 372,000.

Ooredoo was the leading mobile operator with a customer base of 5.88 million, while Tunisie Telecom closed the second quarter with 4.47 million connections.

Orange’s mobile base stood at 3.75 million, while MVNO Lycamobile saw the number of connections decline to 0.47 million, from 0.54 million at end-March.
