Tunisia: textile and clothing exports hit TND 5,090.88 million at end of June

The value of exports in the textile and clothing sector rose by 12.17% to 5,090.88 million dinars at the end of June 2023 compared to the same period in 2022, according to the latest issue of the economic newsletter of the Centre Technique du Textile (CETTEX), which covers the month of June 2023.

In euro terms, the sector’s exports increased by 9.59% to 1,527.24 million euros, but in terms of weight, exports fell by 4.42% to 86,691.26 tons at the end of June 2023 compared with the same period in 2022.

According to CETTEX, an analysis by market of exports of warp and weft garments shows growth in value and weight in the main markets, namely Germany (+16.34% in dinars and +4.47 in weight) and Italy (+28% in dinars and +7.31% in weight).

France, for its part, posted an increase of 7.79% in dinars and a slight decrease of -1.46% in weight.

Textile exports rose by 1.30% in dinars and fell by 7.75% in tons. In terms of value, exports in this sector fell on the French market (-3.02%) and rose on the Italian market (+22.26%).

The value of textile and clothing imports up to the end of June 2023 fell by 2.84% compared to the same period in 2022, to 3811.42 million dinars.

In euro terms, they also fell by 5.07% to 1143 million euro. In terms of weight, imports in this sector decreased by 7.72% to 183,135.05 tons. An analysis of textile and clothing imports under the suspensive regime (RS) shows that Italy remains Tunisia’s main supplier, followed by France, Turkey, Germany, China, Belgium and Spain.
