Tunisia’s state grains agency has issued an international tender to purchase about 50,000 metric tons of soft milling wheat and around 75,000 tons of animal feed barley, European traders said on Thursday.
The origin was optional. The deadline for submission of price offers in the tender is Friday, June 7.
The wheat is sought in two 25,000 ton consignments and the barley in three of 25,000 tons with a range of shipment periods possible depending on the origin the seller decides to supply.
The wheat was for shipment between July 1-July 25, depending on origin, and the barley between June 20 and July 30.
Traders said finance for the tenders was being provided by the World Bank, one of the organizations assisting Tunisia with its difficult financial position involving a scarcity of external funds.
In its last reported soft wheat tender on May 22, Tunisia’s state grains agency purchased about 100,000 tons at the lowest price of $273.69 a ton cost and freight (c&f) included.
