Tunisia has reaffirmed its commitment to proceed with the implementation of the continental land corridor project in coordination with Libya, a move reflecting a strategic direction to enhance its openness to sub-Saharan African markets and expand the horizons of regional trade, according to the Libyan Observer.
The project, known as the “Africa Gateway,” extends from the logistics zone in Ben Guerdane, passing through the Ras Jedir border crossing, then across Libyan territory towards several sub-Saharan African countries, including Niger, Chad, Mali, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic.
Infrastructure and logistics work for the project is expected to continue from 2025 to 2028, with the corridor becoming fully operational in 2029, thus providing a clear timeline for implementation.
