Tunisia-Tourism: DER Touristik expects slight recovery next summer

German tour operator DER Touristik expects a slight recovery of tourism in Tunisia next summer, saying the country is currently investing in security. However, it considered that a return to its former strength will take a further year.

“It’s decisive for the future of Tunisian tourism that this time is used to train staff and invest in renovations, » urged Rolf-Dieter Maltzahn, Joint Managing Director DER Touristik.

Egypt and Portugal are two other destinations likely to see rising bookings, he added.

DER Touristik held a special programme presentation event for some 1,400 German travel agents in Hamburg last weekend, with 1,060 exhibitors from 60 countries at 198 stands. Many exhibitors had come directly from the World Travel Market in London.
