Tunisia-Tourism: Progress, but still far from 2010 figures

According to the latest figures released by the National Tourist Office of Tunisia, August 10, 2012, revenues from tourism reached 1.683 million dinars against 1.234 million dinars in 2011, representing an increase of 36.4% compared to the same period of 2011.

However, compared to 2010, tourism, revenues decreased by 13.5%, which corresponds to a shortfall of 262, 3 million dinars.

As for the number of overnight stays, an increase of 60.1% was recorded compared to the same period of 2011, i.e. 17,262.760 nights. But these figures are lower by 19.7% compared to 2010.

On another side, Tunisia has recorded the arrival of nearly 3.452 million against 4.324 million tourists in the same period in 2010 marking a decline of 20.2%, which corresponds to a loss of nearly 872,000 tourists.

Compared to 2011, non-resident entries post a growth of nearly 33%.
