Tunisia: tourist receipts reach more than billion TD until September 20

Tourism receipts from January 1 to September 20, 2018 exceeded the mark of three billion dinars, posting an increase of 48%, the equivalent of one billion euros (+ 28%).

This volume of revenue exceeds the one achieved by the whole of 2017, Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts Salma Elloumi Rekik said at working session held Monday in Tunis on preparations for the high season of Saharan tourism and festivals in southern Tunisia, according to a statement released by the department Tuesday.

The Minister, on this occasion, stressed the importance of Saharan tourism in the diversification of Tunisian tourism offer, while highlighting the need to make these events the levers of growth of Saharan tourism nationally and internationally.

Like beach tourism, Saharan tourism is currently experiencing a sharp recovery.

In the Kébilli region alone, the number of tourists reached more than 105 thousand in the first eight months of 2018, recording a 38% increase compared to 2017, knowing that this figure exceeded the 2017 figure in its entirety.
