Tunisia’s trade deficit widened in January 2014 to 863.2 million Tunisian dinars (MTD), from 769.6 MD in January 2013, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The deficit resulted from the imbalance recorded in trade, with exports valued at 2,196.1 MTD, while imports were estimated at 3,059.3 MTD.
Foreign trade remained unchanged at export (0.03%), while it increased 3.2% at import, compared to January 2013, notes the INS.
