Tunisia: TT to raise internet capacity to 2.5 TB by end-2024

Tunisia Telecom (TT) has announced that it will increase its connection capacity to 2.5 terabits by the end of 2024, Ecofin reported.

According to director-general Lassaad Ben Dhiab, this will be made possible by three cables to which the company has interconnected.

It is boosting investments to strengthen its network infrastructure with an emphasis on connectivity for all, an evolution towards 5G and the development of optical fiber.

Tunisie Telecom recently finalized its migration from IPv4 to IPv6. The increase in connection capacity should improve the quality and coverage of internet service for subscribers and support the Tunisian government’s digital transformation programs.

According to statistics from the National Telecommunications Authority (INT), Tunisia had 11.1 million mobile internet subscribers in Q2 of 2023, putting the penetration rate at 93.5 percent.
