Tunisia: TUNISAIR increases Q1 revenues by 29% to 292 million dinars

National airline TUNISAIR has just published its activity indicators for the first quarter of 2023. The national carrier posted a 23% increase in the number of passengers carried, which reached 509 thousand passengers, compared to 411,912 passengers at the end of March 2022.

As a result, the company’s revenues went up 29% to 292 million dinars, compared to revenues of 22.6 million dinars last year. Average revenue per passenger increased from 428 to 451 dinars.

In terms of the main variable costs, fuel costs almost doubled to 109 million dinars, while airport charges amounted to 49.2 million dinars, compared to 34.6 million dinars at the end of March 2002.

Personnel costs increased by 8% to 46.5 million dinars, compared to 43 million dinars at the end of March 2022. The number of employees increased from 3,247 to 3,188 between March 2022 and March 2022.

In addition, the company’s financial expenses amounted to 9.4 million dinars, compared to 5.4 million dinars in 2022.

Similarly, the company’s outstanding bank debt decreased significantly from 847.5 million dinars on December 31, 2022 to 766.5 million dinars at the end of March.
