Tunisia, U.S. sign $ 500 million loan guarantee agreement

The United States signed, Tuesday, June 3, 2014, a loan guarantee agreement that will allow Tunisia to have access to 500 million dollars, equivalent to 800 million dinars, in international capital markets.

The agreement was signed by Hakim Ben Hammouda, Minister of Economy and Finance and Jacob Walles, the U.S. ambassador in Tunis.

The loan guarantee granted by the U.S. to Tunisia is the second of its kind after a guarantee for an amount of 485 million dollars (792 MTD), given to Tunisia in 2012 to facilitate access to international capital markets for the first time since 2007.
