Tunisia: UIB announces NBI of 520 million dinars in 2023

Union Internationale de Banque (UIB) has announced that it expects to achieve Net Banking Income (NBI) of 519.5 million dinars in 2023, compared with 490.9 million dinars in 2022, an increase of 5.9%.

Income from banking operations, presented net of reserved agios, rose by 13.9% to 869 million dinars, with the interest margin reaching 301.8 million dinars (+9.2%) and the commission margin virtually stagnant (+0.6%) in 2023.

Income from the commercial and investment securities portfolio rose by 3.6% to 67.3 million dinars, while outstanding deposits totaled 6,285 million dinars at the end of 2023, compared with 5,877 million dinars at the end of 2022.

This 7% increase in deposits is mainly due to the rise in (a) savings deposits (+TND 152.4 million) (b) term deposits, certificates of deposit and other financial products (+TND 172.1 million) (c) sight deposits (+TND 116.5 million) (d) and a fall in other deposits and customer assets (-TND 32.2 million).

Net customer loans outstanding grew by 2.4%, corresponding to an increase of 155.4 million dinars, to reach 6,533 million dinars at the end of 2023, compared with 6,377 million at the end of 2022.

In addition, outstanding loans and special resources reached 197.8 million dinars at the end of 2023, compared with 253 million at the end of 2022.
