The value of exports of handicraft products increased by 4.25% in 2023, compared to 2022, reaching an export value of 15 million dinars, according to official statistics published by the National Handicraft Board (ONA).
Olive wood tops the list of exported products with a value of 69 million dinars, representing 46%
of the total value of exports from traditional industries, followed by pottery and porcelain products with a value of 40.8 million dinars, then handicrafts, woven crafts in general and Chechia.
According to the same source, the main destinations for Tunisian exports of traditional crafts are the United States of America, with a value of 49.5 million dinars, or 32.6%, followed by Italy, with a value of 27.5 million dinars, then France, with a value of 23.4 million dinars, then Germany, with a value of 13 million dinars.
Exports from traditional industries are expected to grow by between 5% and 10% in 2024, according to the ONA.
