Najmeddine Nawar, Director General of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of State Property and Land Affairs, said the ministry is working to increase the value of state-owned real estate assets in order to boost investment and regional development.
Speaking on Radio Nationale, he explained that state-owned real estate assets are of major importance in several fields, particularly in the socio-economic sphere.
He stressed that the ministry is continuously working to inventory state-owned properties and has launched several programs aimed at regularizing their status, including a program to legalize residential areas built on state-owned land and another to regularize the status of properties owned by foreigners.
He underlined that the status of many formerly foreign-owned properties has already been regularized, noting that properties still held by foreigners, especially those in poor condition, remain a problem and negatively affect the appearance of cities.
