Tunisian entrepreneurs from both the public and private sectors are prepared to join consortiums to deliver high-quality, large-scale projects in Libya. This announcement was made by Tunisia’s Minister of Public Works and Housing, Sarah Zaafrani Zenzri, during her meeting with the Minister of Transport of Libya’s Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Shahoubi, who is currently visiting Tunisia at the head of a high-level delegation.

The meeting focused on reviewing bilateral cooperation programs between Tunisia and Libya, particularly in the fields of construction and public works, as well as exploring mechanisms to strengthen these ties in ways that benefit both nations.

Minister Zaafrani emphasized the significant role Tunisian engineering firms and entrepreneurs have played in executing numerous projects in Libya, contributing to the revitalization of its economic cycle.

She highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and the need to further strengthen these connections to foster greater economic and investment collaboration.

Zaafrani reiterated Tunisia’s commitment to supporting Libya by offering its expertise and skilled professionals, including entrepreneurs and engineering firms from both the public and private sectors, to assist in the realization of Libya’s development projects.

She also reaffirmed the readiness of Tunisian entrepreneurs to undertake large-scale, high-quality projects in Libya.

The Tunisian minister expressed her continued support for enhancing bilateral cooperation in construction and public works, emphasizing her willingness to provide assistance in all related areas, whether for Tunisian or Libyan entrepreneurs and engineering firms.

The Libyan minister’s visit to Tunisia is part of a ministerial delegation led by Libya’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher Al-Baour.

During the meeting, Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ali Nafti, announced an agreement with Libya aimed at resolving issues and lifting restrictions that hinder the smooth movement of people and goods at border crossings, while ensuring compliance with regulations.

Libya: a land of vast projects and opportunities

Libya’s infrastructure and construction landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. The country’s Vision 2030, known as *Ihya Libya* (Resurrection of Libya), aims to connect all cities with high-quality roads, communication networks, electricity, and water supply systems, while also providing advanced social facilities.

Urbanization is progressing rapidly, with a significant portion of the population residing in urban areas, necessitating the development of adequate housing, clean water, and employment opportunities.

The construction sector, particularly in Misrata, is experiencing robust growth, driven by private investments and public sector contributions, with the goal of creating jobs and attracting foreign investors.

However, the country faces challenges due to the damage caused by conflict, which has impacted critical infrastructure and basic social services, creating a substantial need for reconstruction and development.

Projects to build new railway lines and ports are also underway, reflecting Libya’s commitment to enhancing its transport and logistics capabilities.

The Libyan market is characterized by a notable increase in infrastructure investments, as reconstruction and infrastructure improvement efforts continue despite political instability.

Key areas of focus include roads, bridges, and public buildings, which are essential for economic recovery and development.

Additionally, Libya has seen a significant surge in the import of public works machinery, signaling a rise in construction activities and a drive to modernize the tools and equipment used in public works projects.
