Zambia’s Finance Minister, Central Bank Governor nominated for 2013 African Investor awards

Zambia’s Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda and Bank of Zambia Governor Michael Gondwe have been nominated for the 2013 African Investor ‘Investment and Business Leader Awards’.

A leading international investment and communications group, the African Investor (Ai), nominated the two for the awards to be held on 10 Oct. in Washington DC, US.

In the Finance Minister of the Year category, Zambia’s Finance Minister has been nominated alongside his South African counterpart Parvin Gordhan and Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance Nizar Barak.

Others are Nigeria’s Minister of Finance Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and her counterparts Seth Terkper of Ghana, Claver Gatete of Rwanda, Saara Kuugongelwa of Namibia and Xavier Duval of Mauritius.

Gondwe, is competing in the Central Bank Governor of the Year award against Nigeria’s Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, South Africa’s Reserve Bank Governor Gill Marcus, Rundheersing Bheenick of Mauritius, Kenya’s Njuguna Ndung’u, National Bank of Rwanda Governor John Rwangomba, among others.

The Ai Investment and Business Leader awards on 10 Oct. will coincide with the Africa investor CEO Investment Climate Summit in Washington DC, running alongside the World Bank Annual meetings, according to a statement issued here Saturday.
