40 Tunisian companies certified “Halal”

ccording to data released by the Export Promotion Center (CEPEX), the halal sector now represents a major strategic lever, particularly for the agri-food and cosmetics industries.

In 2024, around 40 Tunisian companies obtained halal certification, most of them operating in these two sectors. More than 30% of halal-certified products are dates and olive oil, according to CEPEX data.

Today, the halal market, although still relatively new, is experiencing annual growth of 15%. The trend is therefore upward, to the great benefit of the Muslim community, which is expanding mainly in Europe.

It should also be noted that Tunisian companies remain underrepresented in the halal sector compared with other competing countries, such as Morocco, among others.
