Mauritania: Senegal needs over 700,000 sheep for Tabaski festival

Senegalese Animal Husbandry and Resources Minister, Mrs Aminata M’Bengue N’Diaye said here Tuesday that her country needs more than 700,000 sheep for the next Muslim Tabaski festival.

“It would be difficult to get so many sheep without appealing to the Mauritanian and Malian markets. This is why we are here in Nouakchott,” she said after her meeting with Mauritanian Prime Minister Yahya Ould Hademine.

“Tabaski is a religious, cultural and social event in Senegal that requires the sacrifice of sheep,”
N’Diaye added.
