Tunisia: industrial exports down 3.9% in Q1 2014

Tunisia’s industrial exports reached a value of 5,612.6 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) during the first quarter of 2014, against 5,843.0 MTD, during the same period of 2013, down 3.9%, according to figures of the portal of the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy.

The largest increase was recorded by the sector of building materials, ceramics and glass with 19.0%, followed by the mechanical and electrical industries (5.5%) and various industry (5.2%) and Textile & Apparel (2.9%).

In contrast, exports of agrifood sector plunged 54.8%, and to a lesser extent those of leather shoes (-13.3%) while those of chemical industries fell by -8.2%.
