Tunisia: not less than 15% of grain harvest lost each year

Statistics reveal that between 10 and 15% of the grain harvest in Tunisia is lost each year.

The reason behind this loss is the worn and outdated farm equipment available to Tunisian farmers.

Moreover, the overwhelming debt of the agricultural sector in Tunisia does not encourage investing in this area.

Add to this, the import of very significant quantities, including for instance the 22,000 tons of potatoes’ seeds and the 10 million quintals of grain imported annually to meet the local demand.
