In a statement released on Monday 3 September 2012, the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT), denied categorically the devaluation of the national currency of Tunisia.
“Following the rumors that have circulated on social networks and in some media about the intention to devalue the dinar, the BCT denies these unfounded information and emphasizes its role as defender of the national currency and its willingness to ensure a fair value of the dinar, reflecting economic fundamentals.
“The release of the BCT does not, however, provide any explanation for the sharp depreciation of the Tunisian dinar (TD).
