Tunisia: will Davos imitate rating agencies?

The IACE (Arab Institute of Business Managers) is expected to publish next Wednesday, September 5, 2012, a statement showing the latest ranking of Tunisia in the competitiveness index.

This index, bed-side book to all foreign investors, is developed each year by the Forum in Davos done in cooperation with the IACE. What will be this ranking?

The latest report on global competitiveness 2011-2012 had ranked Tunisia 40th out of 142 developed and developing countries in terms of global competitiveness, ahead of several EU countries.

The year 2012, however, saw the lowering of Tunisia’s sovereign ratings, for various reasons, including political instability and hard financial and economic situation.

And while some sources speak of a “surprise”, many expect that Davos will imitate Standard & Poor’s or Moody’s.
